This is in direct opposition to the president’s continued attempt to change the name of the Kennedy Center, which was renamed from the National Cultural Center as a living memorial to the late President John F. Kennedy after he was assassinated in 1964.
After a federal judge blocked the attempt, insisting such a change could not be put in place without an act of Congress, Trump has threatened to demolish the site, telling reporters, “It’ll end up being ripped down.”
Now, hundreds of protesters used their bodies as a shield from his threat of demolition, chanting “Keep your tiny hands off” in Washington, D.C., which eventually pivoted to the simpler demand, “Hands off!”
The display was organised by the Hands Off the Arts advocacy group and titled Hands Around the Kennedy Center.
